Cars in German Town Found Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Police Confirm

Officers stated they were contacted by a resident who noticed a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Around 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Officers state they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The fluid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then located multiple other smeared cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials state preliminary tests suggest the substance was probably blood from a person.

"Currently there is no lead as to its source; investigators are not yet informed of any injuries in association with the event," they stated.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have requested to the residents for tips.

An important political figure commented the incident made him stunned and had to be solved promptly.

"This act hits the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
